It struck us today we've come a long way this season.
3 months ago we were in northern Newfoundland, clad in full foul weather gear with icebergs for company and an endless choice of anchorages in which we were guaranteed to be the only yacht.
Today, we had a wonderful sail in shorts and t-shirts in Martha's Vineyard but were told if we didn't reach an anchorage or harbour by midday then it would be full to capacity.
Which do we prefer........ the jury's out - but one way or another we have this strange feeling that our bows will be heading northwards next year!!

Cosmic Dancer's home for the next 6 months - the Jamestown Boat Yard, Rhode Island where we will get some much needed work done after another 2000 mile+ season

We may be at the end of the road but the helpfulness and friendliness of people in these parts knows no bounds. A big thank you to "Wind Pilot" who got us a tow the last 10 miles into Port Hardy when not only our engine but also the wind failed us.

Deliverance arrives from the sky - our replacement engine being dropped in at Port Hardy. A few nervous moments when we couldn't get it to mate with the sail-drive but eventually the 2 were united and we now have power!

The Sawyer Glacier as it is today. Weâ??re the black boat in the centre of the screen and the red radar overlay on the electronic chart shows the extent to which the glacier has retreated. We are about a mile inland from the charted snout of the glacier, and the snout itself is now almost 2 miles inland from the charted position.

A taste of Alaska - we are in â??fish loversâ? heaven here. The most amazing freshly caught halibut and Pacific wild salmon at a price little more than a MacDonaldâ??s burger costs- it would be a crime not to indulge and we are doing our best not to be criminal! A fillet of Coho lightly poached in white wine with leeks and capers for supper tonight - absolutely divine.
