Round Britain

It started as what we thought would be a straightforward 500 mile passage to Hamburg to compete in Nordseewoche regatta. In the end we got no closer than 200 miles to Hamburg but instead ended up completing a 2,700 mile circumnavigation of Britain. Whilst sailing plans invariably change, we never dreamt they would change quite that much!!

The circumnavigation was completed late yesterday afternoon when we sailed into Plymouth Sound after a fine spinnaker run up from the Lizard. Our overnight anchorage in Cawsand, where we celebrated a safe and successful end to the journey, was the last of this leg. However with a few days still remaining before we have to return to work we hope to squeeze in a quick dash to the Channel Islands or North Brittany coast.

Ports and anchorages visited on the 2007 circumnavigation:

Plymouth, Weymouth, Cowes, Gosport, Brighton, Dover, Oostende, Ijmuiden, Den Helder, Harlingen, Oudeschild, Hartlepool, Blyth, Peterhead, Clachnaharry, Fort Augustus, Banavie, Dunstaffnage, Loch Feochan, Tobermory, Loch Sunart, Arisaig, Eigg, Inverie, Kyleakin, Poll Domhain, Loch Gairloch, Lochinver, Loch Drombaig, Kylesku, Badcall Bay, Stornoway, Shiant Islands, Loch Bhrollum, Loch Claidh, Loch Seaforth, Loch Marivaig, East Loch Tarbert, Loch Cean Dibig, Scalpay South Harbour, Loch Rodel, Poll an Tighmail, Lochmaddy, Loch Boisdale, Eriskay, Sound of Barra, Sound of Sandray, Castle Bay, Tobermory, Craobh Haven, Gigha, Glenarm, Carrickfergus, Portaferry, Howth, Dublin, St Mary's Pool, Porth Cressa, The Cove St Agnes, Mousehole, Cawsand, Plymouth
